Dear Booster Board Members: An issue has arisen regarding HHS band booster members and concessions. As you all are aware, we have tried to reduce the number of HHS band booster members working in concessions by "hiring" parents from other clubs and organizations. The issue is that some of our booster members have other children that belong to other organizations, such as HMS band. Should we allow these parents to work at concessions and be counted as hired employees for the other group(s), or should we simply state that any HHS booster parent who works for concessions does so solely as a member of our boosters? I see three options: 1. Allow HHS band booster members who work concessions to do so only as volunteers for our booster group. 2. Allow HHS band booster members to designate their work for one game only to count toward another organization as a hired worker. 3. Allow HHS band booster members to designate their work to count toward any other organization as they choose. I think that from the beginning we saw this as a way to help our band boosters reduce the amount of work each of our parents must put in on Friday nights. It was intended only secondarily to help other organizations. I feel that if we allow our booster members to designate all their time in concessions to other organizations, it simply costs us money and does not help the problem.
